Next Auction - Spring 2008
Each Fall and Spring Games Plus hosts an auction.
Games are supplied by customers.
Payouts are in store credit. Its a great way to pick up some new (or old!) titles
and make witty remarks about
the fact that there is no such thing as a punched copy of a Simulations Canada game.
The tentative Fall auction dates will be : Paperwork Availability : Thursday February 7th Final drop off date : Tuesday, March 4th Collectible Game Auction - Wednesday, March 5th, 7 pm Historical & Family Game Auction - Friday March 7th, 7 pm Fantasy/SciFi Auction - Saturday March 8th, 11 am Miniatures Auction - Sunday, March 9th, 11 am Credit & Unsold items available starting Thursday, March13th Final pickup date for credit & unsold items - Thursday, April 17th. The Spring 2008 Auction will be taking place at the store - 101 W Prospect Ave - just 2 blocks west of the Mt. Prospect train station on the Metra Chicago to Harvard route. We are only a block west of the intersection of 14 (Northwest Highway) and 83 (Main St /Elmhurst Road), on the south side of the tracks. We will be begin accepting items for auction starting on
Thursday, February 7th until the afternoon of Tuesday, March 4th. We will accept new or used games, miniatures, magazines, trading cards, books and other items related to the adventure gaming hobby. We reserve the right to refuse items that do not relate to the hobby, that do not come packaged in a manner which the item can be stored or auctioned easily on its own, or that are incomplete, damaged or represented differently. Also, due to logistical and time constraints we will not be taking movies, non-gaming trading cards, non-industry related books, magazines, computer or video games systems and other items, at our discretion. You will be required to fill out some paperwork in order to enter items into the auction. The paperwork will be available at the store during regular business hours on or after Monday, February 4th. The Collectible Games Auction will begin at 7 pm on Wednesday March 5th and will include items such as Magic the Gathering, Disk Wars and Armada sets, Mage Knight, Heroclix, Mechwarrior, Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures Game, Star Wars and Pirates Pocket Models and the like etc. These are any games which you must collect to get a full set as opposed to games which are collectors items like War in Europe (or other titles like that). The Historical & Family Game Auction will start at 7 pm on Friday March 7th and will contain historical games such as wargames (Avalon Hill, GMT, Avalanche, MMP, Decision Games, etc.), historical (but not miniature) related magazines and other non-miniature items as well as any family style or Euro board and card games from manufacturers like Days of Wonder , Rio Grande Games, and other publishers. Games of this sort would be Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride & Carcassone, for example. The Fantasy/Science Fiction Game Auction will start at 11 am on Saturday, March 8th and will consist of all non-miniature Fantasy and Science Fiction games and all the Role Playing games. The auction usually ends around 7-8 pm (depending on total number of items entered) and there will not be a lunch break, so please plan ahead. We will have lunch items brought in by local business and there are several close at hand for a quick lunch for our participants. Finally the Miniatures Auction will start at 11 am on Sunday, March 9th and will consist of all the miniatures, miniatures rules sets, terrain and accessories related to miniatures gaming. Like last year the auction will end around 7-8 p.m. (depending on total number of items entered) and there will not be a lunch break. Much like Saturday, we will have lunch items available from local businesses and many of them will be open if you wish a wider variety of food and beverages. Doors will open about 1 hour prior to every auction for seating and viewing of the items which will be auctioned on that day. All purchases are made with cash at the time of the sale unless a credit account (secured by a credit card or blank check) has been set up ahead of time. Set up for any credit accounts (called “Tabs”) will begin about 1/2 hour before that day’s auction begins. Our patrons may use the street parking in front of our store, or the commuter parking 1 block North of us on Northwest Highway (Highway 14). Please call, write or e-mail for more details.
