What is the Auction ?

Each Spring and Fall Games Plus hosts an auction. Games are supplied by customers. Payouts are in store credit. Its a great way to pick up some new (or old!) titles, find some miniatures or magazines to fill out your collection and make witty remarks about the fact that there is no such thing as a punched copy of a Simulations Canada game...

How big is the Auction ? Usually we have over 3000 item make it through the proceedings in the four days we hold the auction. To give you an idea of exactly what this may look like here are some shots of the holding area a couple of days before we started the Spring 2006 Auction...

Note - these dates are tentative - and there may well be changes to the submission guidelines in the upcoming auction as well. We are tightening up restrictions on extraneous and non-applicable items because the volume of auction entries has begun to overtake our ability to auction them. Please be certain to check the guidelines before entering items.

Please Note : Because of the high volume of merchandise that has begun to move through the auction and the logistical and time constraints of the auction period we will be doing two (or three) things differently.

1) we are now assessing entries and their validity to the auction. Video tapes, DVD's, most non-industry novels and one off collectibles will not be auctioned. Other items like computer games, individual magazines, traditional family games like Monopoly, Parcheesi and other titles we do not deal in will be curtailed as well as not selling items like computers systems, video games, greeting cards and such like that.

2) We will be dispensing with the lunch breaks in order to maximize the auction time. We will be arranging for Sub Express to bring in hot dogs and/or subs so folks can duck out, grab food and return easily.

3) We will be prioritizing the auction in order to make sure folks with smaller lots do not get pushed to the back by the few who bring in a great deal of items. If you bring in lots of things, expect that some of them will be pushed to the end of the line

4) We will be instituting an closing time onto the auctions. Any items not auctioned by this deadline time will be set aside and returned to the owners and will not be available to be purchased at it's minimum bid during the hour after the close of the auction as normally is the case with unsold (but auctioned) items.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

The Spring 2007 Auction will be taking place at the store - 101 W Prospect - just 2 blocks west of the Mt. Prospect train station on the Metra Chicago to Harvard route. We are only a block west and a shade south of the intersection of 14 (Northwest Highway) and 83 (Main St. /Elmhurst Road).

Sellers will receive a gift certificate for 100% of the amount their items were sold for unless prior arrangements have been made with the owners.

We will accept new or used games, miniatures, magazines, trading cards, books and other items related to the adventure gaming hobby. We reserve the right to refuse items that do not relate to the hobby, that do not come packaged in a manner which the items can be stored or auctioned easily on its own, or that are incomplete or damaged and are represented differently. You will be required to fill out some paperwork to enter items into the auction.

Doors will open about 1 hour prior to every auction for seating. Set up for any credit accounts will begin about 1/2 hour before the auction starts that day.

All purchases are made with cash at the time of the sale unless a credit account (secured by a credit card or blank check) has been set up ahead of time. These credit accounts may only be settled at the end of the auction or at a specified break unless previously discussed with the auction staff.

Our patrons may use the street parking in front of our store, or the commuter parking 1 block North of us on Northwest Highway (Highway 14).

You can call, write or e-mail for more details.
